An Ocosta High School graduate, Odle was the ace of the first organized Chokers women's basketball team in 1970-71. After sitting out a season, she returned for the 1972-73 season. The Chokers made it to the regional championship game that year. Odle scored 32 points in a 45-36 loss to Southern Oregon. She was also an outstanding softball player. Odle went on to enjoy a brilliant basketball career at Western Washington State College. She was the first women to receive Western's Athlete of the Year award and was inducted into the school's Hall of Fame in 1986. In 2000, she was named to Western's All-Century team.
