Aberdeen native, John Wilson, graduated from Aberdeen High School in 1966 and was inducted into the AHS Hall of Fame with late father Edgar B. Wilson in 1983. At GHC, he played football for coach Bud Hake and basketball for coach Jack Stoddard. As a sophomore at GHC, he was captain of the Choker basketball team and received the Neal Eddy Athletic Achievement Award. Earning his Associate Degree in 1968, he transferred to Central Washington University, where he majored in history and received a teaching certificate, but did not participate in sports. In 1971, he was hired by GHC President Eddie Smith to administer off-campus and evening programs. As Continuing Education coordinator, John expanded the College's service district and initiated an Assiciate of Arts degree program for evening students. Also while at GHC, he assisted his former coaches with football and basketball by recruiting, coaching and mentoring young players.
