The Chokers took two losses at the NWAC Championships losing to the North Idaho College Cardinals and the Edmonds College Tritons.
The first game of the tournament was a tall order for the Chokers as North Idaho was the number one overall seed coming into the tournament. The Chokers played them tough but ultimately were defeated 9-1 with
Reese Wiseman hitting a solo homerun to put the Chokers on the board.
Game two was a different story, but same result as the Chokers dropped the game to the Tritons 7-6. The Chokers got on a hot streak backed by a huge 3-run homerun by Lexie Cudaback putting the Chokers up 3-2. They continued with
Ronni Graham hitting a solo bomb and scoring two others again on the big bat of Cudaback with a 2-RBI double. The Chokers gave up one in the 5th and 3 in the 6th to allow the Tritons to tie it up at 6-6 going into the last inning. The Chokers threatened with runners in scoring position, but a clutch strikeout by the Triton pitcher ended the threat with no runs scored. In the bottom of the 7th the Tritons managed to find some baserunners and a bloop single scored the walk off winning run, ending the Chokers postseason play in dramatic fashion.
This ends the season for the Grays Harbor Chokers softball team with a great run and a goal accomplished in making it to the tournament! With the coaching staff out recruiting and returning players hungry for more, the Chokers are looking good to have a repeat chance at being back in the tournament next season!
