GHC went 3-0 in their pod to take on Eastern Oregon University who did the same in theirs. 
EOU's highly ranked 125 and 133 pounders earned pins against their GHC opponents before Damon Thomas (Fr/Chehalis, WA) got the team on the board with a decision at 141#. Dillon Simpson (Fr/ Wasilla, AK) earned a major decision at 149#. Diego Hernandez was up by 6 points late in the match against his nationally ranked opponent  but was then pinned. Joe Fricilone (So/ Fairbanks, AK) scored a takedown at the buzzer to earn a win and to put the  Chokers into the lead. GHC lost the last two matches and thus the team title to EOU.
On the day, Matthew Alejandro went 4-0. Others going 3-1 were Dillon Simpson, Diego Hernandez, Josh Pine, and Jack Dahlgren.
For the first outing of the season, the team wrestled well. They have much to work on before the next competition in two weeks at Pacific University at the Mike Clock Open.
