MBB to Begin NWAACC Play in Clackamas

11/19/2013 3:42:00 PM

The new look Chokers begin NWAACC play Saturday, Nov 23rd versus Clackamas in Portland, OR. This opener will make for a tough challenge. Clackamas has long been known as a powerhouse in NWAACC competition. Under coach Cliff Wegner, the Cougars has won NWAACC titles in 2007, 2009, and 2010.

In the Cougars opener, only 3 players logged 30 minutes or more. Each of the players contributed 15 or more points. The Chokers will have to prove they can defend two long and athletic Cougars who play a inside-outside game. Logging minutes at both the guard and forward position, Tim Lott and Brandon Halter appear to be a tough defensive challenge. The Chokers should be ready for the challenge after an exhibition against the semi-pro Seattle Mountaineers who carried a number of players on their roster who had the capability to play both inside and outside.

In the exhibition versus the Mountaineers, Riley Alvord, Bryan McGriff, and Tim Straughter played impact roles for the Chokers. Great efforts from these three and the rest of the Chokers will be needed to top the mighty Cougars.
