The Choker men missed a tremendous chance to help secure a birth in the NWAC Championship tournament, yesterday. The men lost 78 - 63, at Evergreen State College, versus South Puget Sound. The men were doomed by poorly timed 3 point shooting and paced their performance with 20 turnovers. A bad recipe for success. The Chokers were paced once again by the blue collar work of Genuwine Powell and
Zach Marrotte. Powell scored 9 points, grabbed 12 rebounds and dished out 7 assists. Marrotte suffered a strained knee, last Wednesday, against Centralia but still managed an inspiring effort with 16 points, 9 rebounds and 2 steals. The loss dampened the men's spirits, but they are far from done.
Wednesday night, the 26th, on the Grays Harbor Campus will be the final game, of the year. It is sophomore night, where all sophomores will be honored in a pregame ceremony. The Chokers will take on Highline College for a berth, into the NWAC tournament. It is only fitting the team that has caused everyone so much excitement and heartache, will take their playoff hopes into the final game. It is truly a one game season. A special opportunity for these Choker young men. Tip Off is scheduled for 8 pm and the Choker women tip off at 6 pm. Get to the games early, as this is sure to be a great evening of competition.
