Green River tops Grays Harbor 96-63

1/21/2024 9:16:00 PM

The Chokers hung tough with the Gators for the first ten minutes of the game, going back and forth with multiple lead changes.  After a tough 15-0 run by the Gators mid first half, the Chokers just couldn't fight their way back. Perimeter defense just seemed to be off tonight allowing the Gators sharpshooter, Tyler Burraston, to put up 34 points on 10 made 3's. Speaking with Coach Cleveringa, he said, "Burraston is a great player and really hard to stop."  Which that tracks as he's 11th overall for the NWAC in points per game.

Coach Cleveringa was disappointed in his teams collective responsibility against the Gators. "We had a few guys step up and play hard, but as a unit we didn't have enough today. We play a tough SPSCC team coming up next, which will be a great test for us." Those guys that stepped up, at least offensively, were Keon Dewalt, who had his second game in a row leading the Chokers with 34 points and 5 boards. Julian Garza was second on the team with 11 points going 3 of 5 from deep.

The Chokers head to Olympia, WA to take on the South Puget Sound Clippers on Wednesday Jan. 24th at 5:30pm. Go Chokers!
