Roseburg, OR - The Lady Chokers visited Umpqua Community College this las weekend to take on Southern Oregon University, Southwest Oregon Community College as well as Umpqua.  The team went down with just a partial lineup and were starting the duels at a disadvantage to begin with.  The first match GHC took on the Umpqua Riverhawks and came up short losing 24-19. "I was pleased with how our team got after it on the whistle." said Pine.  Highlights of the match were Cynthia Diaz and Emma Justo's quick first round pins.  

The Chokers took on Southwestern Oregon in the next dual. In the final contested match, Emma Justo was sent out with the mission to get a fall for the team needed the 5 team points to insure at least a tie.  After some physical hand fighting and both wrestlers going after leg attack attempts Justo was able to secure her 2 on 1 tie up and snapped her opponent to the mat to secure the takedown.  Emma then threw in a double arm bar  and turned the SWOCC wrestler to her back.  The referee called the pin with just seconds left in the round.  The score stood at 20-20 and since there are no ties in wrestling we had to refer to the rule book to determine the victor. The match ended up being decided on the #7 criteria....the team that scored the first takedown of the dual.  It went back to the 109 lb match where Cynthia Diaz scored the first takedown on her patented sweep single in the first round. final score 21-20.

In the last dual of the day we met up with the Red Raiders of SOU.  We were a bit outgunned and fell to SOU 43-4. Fotu scored the teams only points with 10-0 tech fall in the final match of the night. "The team knew going into all the duals that we were behind but at the same time regardless of outcome it was a chance to improve for the big picture is Nationals at the end of the year."said Coach Pine

The next event for the team is The Puerto Rico Christmas Invitational, December 13-14
