Aberdeen, WA - The first NCWA National ranking was just released and it puts GHC in the number 2 spot behind last years runner-up Ottawa University out of Arizona. "It's nice to be recognized at this point, but we still have quite a bit of work in front of us. I am happy with what the team has accomplished so far. We are just focusing on having fun and trying to get better with every opportunity," said Coach
Kevin Pine.
The Chokers did just that last weekend at the Grays Harbor Scramble which was hosted by Elma HS. The event consisted of men's and women's teams from Washington State University, Western Washington University, University of Washington, Central Washington University, and Pacific Lutheran University.
Both of wrestling programs had a great showing with the women winning 16 of their 22 matches and the men winning 38 of their 49 matches. The purpose of a scramble is guaranteeing matches regardless of the outcome. All the brackets consisted of four wrestlers per pool thus every wrestler potentially getting three bouts.
