Bob was a three sport athlete at Grays Harbor College during the 1947 and 1948 seasons. Bob Basich transferred to Saint Martin’s College and played football. In 1948 and 1949, he was a unanimous Little All-American and All-Evergreen Conference center in football. He was named captain of the 1949 team. He also played catcher and second baseman for the baseball team. An excellent student and active student leader, he was named to the Who’s Who in American Colleges. After graduation from Saint Martin’s, he taught for 17 years in the Aberdeen School District. He continued on at GHC as an instructor and coach and served in the Washington state legislature.
