Debbie Gibson graduated from Puyallup High School in 1983 and enrolled at GHC in 1984. A basketball, volleyball, and softball player, she earned regional All-Star selection for Choker Volleyball as a freshman and sophomore. While playing softball, Debbie was instrumental in the Chokers' back-to-back Championship teams, earned regional All-Star honors and was selected for All-Tournament teams both seasons. After Graduating from GHC, Debbie was named assistant volleyball coach at Montesano High School in 1986 and became the Bulldog's head coach in 1990. During her tenure as head coach (1990 to 1996), Montesano qualified for the state tournament four of six years.

In 1997, Debbie became the Head Coach for Choker Volleyball and was the only GHC coach to lead the voleyball team to the NWAACC playoffs. After the 2001 season, Debbie returned to Montesano where she led the Bulldogs to four more state playoff berths, including a sixth place finish in 2009.
